Resist • Dismantle • Reimagine
ESSU is the student arm of the Critical Studies in Equity and Solidarity department at the University of Toronto. We largely function to spread awareness about the program across the university. Did you know we are the 7th largest program at U of T?
We also focus on advocacy, and our projects respond to current events happening in the world as well as what the executives tend to be interested in. The last few years we have focused on student mental health in response to the mental health crisis on campus. Years before, we focused on food and food security on campus. Currently, we are collaborating with faculty, staff and other students to address the University's response to the climate crisis as members of the Divestment & Beyond coalition. We are also working to support students experiencing food and financial insecurity due to COVID.
